I was born and raised in Pgh, PA and interested in genes since I was a little maladjusted kid in elementary school. 23andme says my melanocortin receptors are the bad kind if you don't want to be fat and insulin resistant, so I'm doing the best I can with the cards I've been dealt. I'm into hiking, biking, and healthy food at least when I'm not buried in paperwork from my healthcare career. May have some autoimmune stuff going on in the family (anyone else sensitive to canavanine in foods?), had cognitive side effects on lovastatin when tried that a few years ago, and definitely have SNHL very similar to my mom's. Hope to learn and contribute more any way I can.
