Currently involved in a consumer genetics organization, and previously a geneticist hobbyist. My entrance into consumer genetics was spurred by a lecture in a graduate genetics course, that mentioned some consumer genetics companies. Subsequently, that kickstarted the hobby. But prior to that I had participated in a genetics study at Johns Hopkins in 2004.

The overall goal of this interest wasn't genetics for genetics sake, it was spurred by the utility of genetics for understanding of the brain, and from that the basis of brain disorders and consciousness. In the interim, perhaps 50+ years before those goals are achieved, I'm also involved in DTC genetics. But my original goal remains.
