About me

I have Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy and when I "brought my genes to Cal" the university cowardly backed out of sending my cohort the personalized genetic information we were promised when we first swabbed our cheeks.

My first cousin had Krabbe's disease, but I have a more varied lineage than he and presumably I possess alleles from Asia and Africa also.

I think statistical genomics holds a greater potential for feeding humanity than creating "artificial" GMOs.

The in situ natural selection of the farmers is aided greatly with the lens of genomics; analogous to surgically attaching sensors to the optical nerve which would enable the congenitally blind to see in color ~ infrared and ultraviolet in addition to those of our normal palette, or analogous to the invention of the microscope which permitted us to see more of the invisible world that surrounds and suffuses our daily existence enabling us to better grasp the true nature of the universe.

Whereas even advanced genetic modification technologies like CRISPR are inexact the repercussions of unleashing those genies upon the world is analogous to an in utero experiment upon the Earth's entire biome (micro and macro, epigenetically and culturally) in absence of the ethics committee's approval or even proper scientific oversight (or experiment design or even the psuedo-transparency of publication in obscure journals). Perhaps it is more interesting to the genie conjurers on how best to make trees glow like benthic fish, but the nightly migration and elevation of those benthic fish is a revelation I'd like to make more available to this and other nations through investments in education.

If we educate ourselves in mathematics and science and philosophy, and study the organic patterns of heaven and earth, and sow good seeds we shall reap good fruit and gain transcendental understanding of our earthly experience.

I am really interested to find out which dopamine polymorphisms I have; as I experience awe on a fairly regular basis and I have another first cousin that experiences ASMR. I'd also like to know how much of my DNA is Neanderthal and whether or not I possess any Denisovan genes.

Some other research interests of mine include: psychohistory, nutritional science, agroecology, urban development, and folk lore.
